The design and
construction of dams is multi-facet activity which requires
diversified engineering input in a proper sequence. The above
sections carry out the tasks which involve; geological
investigation and studies for proper design of foundation of
dams, hydrological studies to establish the quantum of water
available for storage , evaluation of various sites to establish
suitability from safety and economic consideration, selection of
dam body , establishment of optimal dam height , study for
environmental impact and study for constructability of the dam,
etc.
