Apart from ten percent of the areas surrounded by Alborz range and the Caspian sea, the vast country of Iran comprises arid and semi arid regions and less than half of it is appropriate for agriculture. Hence the importance and key role of extension of water sources in Iran is obvious. From some centuries ago most of human societies emerged around streams and developed gradually. However as water has not been distributed equally on the earth this issue always caused human beings to seek for extraction storage and transportation of water from one place to another in order to be able to develop and revive industry and agriculture.

In Iran where the water shortage has been of concern from a very long time, the necessity of recognition and expansion of water resources, optimal use, its prevention from pollution is necessary. Prior to Islamic Revolution in Iran, the engineering works on large projects was generally carried out by foreign consultants. As a policy, the new government, were encouraged the local firms to carry out this activity. In this regard the LAR Consulting Engineer was founded in 1983 by TRWB and later in 1986 became registered private share holders with a view to replace foreign consultants. The LAR Consulting Engineers since it’s foundation has completed many projects throughout Islamic Republic of Iran, and has many important completed and on-going projects relating to water resources and water industry.

LAR with over 200 employees has the extensive experience in design and supervision services of many different projects.

LAR Consulting Engineer has a large number of expert personnel with high level academic degrees. A large number of them are technical experts with specialized experience in fields of Water Resources, Dam Engineering, Hydraulics, Construction, Geotechnics, Project Management and tunneling design and supervision works.

These engineers have provided considerable engineering and consulting services using up to-date technology and utilization of the Documentation Center, Technical Archives, Computer Center, Developed Software's ,Library and some other additional facilities.

LAR Consulting Engineer has acquired technical abilities and facilities for performing various technical and engineering consulting services such as studying different stages of a project, technical and economic appraisal of the plans, preparation of drawings and specifications, tender documents and supervisory consulting services relating to Water Resources Development Plans, Dams, Water Supply, tunnels , Waste Water Removal, Irrigation and Drainage, Distribution Networks ,Underground Hydro-electrical Constructions and similar Hydraulic Structures.

LAR Consulting Engineers has also been granted by management & planning organization as a grade ‘A’ consultants for providing engineering services in the field of water resources projects.

LAR Consulting Engineers has particularly now acquired expertise in Project Management of World Bank-funded Projects. LAR is familiar with the World Bank procurement procedures due to the fact that LAR was engaged as Central Consultant on the World Bank -funded Irrigation Improvement Project, providing Project Management Services to assist Ministry of Energy Liaison office.
